HOW TO CHARGE IN VIDEOGRAPHY.

This post is about how one should charge in videography.

I've seem to find that only in wedding videography can one get paid properly to do work. I think pricing is beyond the realm of the average small business owner unless they intimately know that making this video and telling their story is something they really want want.

The vast majority of the professional client video's I made were for pro bono hacks, ie, let me train for free at your boutique gym and I will make you an About Us video, or let me get a hair cuts for a year and i'll make you a good video.

I've found that if I want to knock on the doors of an established video, I need to show them that their marketing money is best spent on telling stories that have a message, a tone, and something that their viewer can identify with and feel at home saying that this is the brand for me.

So with that, I don't know how small businesses afford video, and if and when I start charging again for my work, I need to charge triple of what I think a video will be.

So thinking of this, its one of the reasons, why, whilst I want to keep making video's for clients, I have to sincerely ask them, is this a project that they want a certain amount of eyes on video's and will this "give me new and returning customers" Whats the return on investment. So to speak.

I only have a Black Magic Camera 4K, and all the pheriphiral sound equipment, I have a mac book pro thats nearly on the blink, I have a Ronin S Gimball, and all I need are panel lights, 3 lenses, 2 prime lenses and a 24 to 105 Zoom Lense and maybe a 50mm L Series lense too, H6N recorder, some lapel mics, so actually the first hurdle is over with. I prefer owning my kit rather than renting incase anything happens on the day with someones rented kit.

I am now able to borrow kit from Resident Advisor as they are a charity partner who help Four Corners help under privileged creators with their grind.

So here's a couple slides of what we should be charging once you have that experience under your belt/our belt.
